Lilac paintings - Flower Bouchet, 2011

Oil on canvas 30cm x 40cm
The first painting from a series of three. Each spring - April or beginning of May -  we can't wait the lilac to bloom - we have an old one (meaning 30 years) - needing a lot of carefull pruning - with lot of violets flowers and another two -  younger - violet and white flowers. Each spring we pick flowers from them  - carefully to do not affect how they look - and make nice bouchets for our home. This year I decided to remember them on paintings too.

Lilac Paintings - Bouchet with an antique oil lamp, 2011

Oil on canvas, 30cm x 40cm
The idea of this painting comes from the game between lights and shadows on the lilac bouchet, due to a nearby floor lamp, observed by me on the evening. Much better as the floor lamp, the antique oil lamp (I have it from my aunt Ana) formed a warm and friendly light on lilac flowers, highlighted by the white lilac placed in the front.
